The Office of the Head of Service, Anambra State, announces the commencement of the verification exercise for all State Pensioners starting Monday, 5th October 2026 to 30th of October, 2026.

To make the process simple, convenient, and cost-effective, the exercise is digital-first. Pensioners do not need to travel to Awka and can complete verification from home using a smartphone or with the help of a trusted relative.

ANAMBRA ROARS AGAIN! 9 AWARDS, 8 CATEGORY WINNERS AT 2026 NATIONAL TEACHERS’ AWARDS

Anambra State has once again made a powerful statement on the national education stage, recording a remarkable performance at the 2026 President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards with nine national honours, eight of them won outright in their respective categories.

The state emerged overall best in Public Primary School Administrator, Best Public Junior Secondary School Administrator, Best Private Junior Secondary School Teacher, Best Public Primary School Teacher, Best Private Junior Secondary School, Best Private Senior Secondary School, Best Private Junior Secondary School Administrator and Best Private Primary School, while also securing 1st Runner-Up in the Best Public Secondary School Teacher category.

Anambra State carted away nine out of the 18 awards, an impressive feat that further underscores the state’s outstanding performance.

Among the trailblazing winners is Mrs. Gloria Nkolika Odionu of Awada Primary School 4, Obosi, who clinched the prestigious Overall Best Public Primary School Administrator in Nigeria award, a feat that came with a Jetour black Jeep as the prize.

Also flying the Anambra flag high, Mrs. Agatha Chika Ofojindu of Urban Boys Secondary School,Onitsha emerged as Best Public Junior Secondary School Administrator in Nigeria, adding another national honour to the state’s impressive haul. Her accomplishment came with a tricycle (keke) as the prize.

The feat cuts across teachers, school administrators and schools, highlighting the breadth of recognition earned by Anambra’s education sector at the national level.

With the impressive showing, Anambra also carted away a Jetour black Jeep, a tricycle, deep freezers and laptops as prizes associated with the various awards.

The remarkable outing further underscores the state’s growing profile in national education excellence, with teachers, administrators and schools collectively putting Anambra in the national spotlight.

Nine awards. Eight category winners. One 1st Runner-Up. A phenomenal outing for Anambra at the 2026 President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL: ANAMBRA EDUCATION MINISTRY TASKS TEACHERS ON STRONGER READING SKILLS

Schools across Anambra State on Monday resumed for the 2026/2027 academic session after the six-week vacation, with the State Ministry of Education monitoring the level of compliance and pupils’ return to classrooms.

The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Education, Mrs. Obiageli Chiegboka, visited some schools in Awka to assess the resumption and interact with teachers and pupils.

At Udodinma Primary School, Nodu-Okpuno, the team met a calm atmosphere, with pupils and teachers already engaged in academic activities when it arrived at about 8:45 a.m.

Addressing the teachers, Chiegboka urged them to pay greater attention to pupils’ reading skills, describing the ability to read words and sentences as a basic foundation for academic success.

She noted that pupils who struggle with reading at the primary level could face difficulties throughout their academic journey, urging teachers to ensure that children acquire the necessary reading skills at the foundational stage.

“When a pupil is unable to pronounce words or read a full sentence, how can the child read the questions and answer them?” she asked.

Chiegboka encouraged teachers to adopt innovative approaches to make reading more engaging for pupils, suggesting group reading sessions, where stronger readers could lead others, as well as reading competitions to stimulate interest.

She also urged head teachers to look beyond the regular updating of lesson notes when assessing teachers’ effectiveness, saying greater attention should be paid to their impact on pupils’ ability to read and write.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Rose Chidekwe-Udeh, said most pupils had returned, while the school expected full attendance from the following week. She added that all teachers had resumed duties and that the school had recorded 28 new enrolments since the beginning of the session.

She disclosed that the shortage of teachers remained a major challenge, noting that several teachers had recently been posted out of the school without adequate replacements, thereby leaving the school with fewer teachers to cater effectively to the pupils.

The highlight of the visit was an interactive session between Chiegboka and the pupils, during which their reading ability and word-pronunciation skills were assessed.

- 2024 Primary School Leaving Certificate Result is also out.

- You are to come with a copy of 2022 and 2023 PSLC result and CAS for verification before collection.

- Date for collection is Monday 19th October, 2026 to Friday 23rd October, 2026 at the AEO'S office Idemili North.

- Due to security reasons, all other Certificate / results will be return back to EDC, Awka after the stiputated period. So, hurry up to collect yours.

- Registration for the Annual School Census is still on and if you are yet to register, kindly print the form out, fill and submit the hard copy to the AEO's office Idemili North. *Fine for defaulters is #150,000.*

No School will be issued *CERTIFICATE OR RESULT* if they haven't done the Annual School Census registration.

Secondly, screening for examination will be based on schools that has done their registration.
Please, treat as urgent and spread widely.
