The leadership of NUT Lagos State Wing is aware of the story making round social media of a school principal from ojo branch reported dead alongside her husband while on Sallah holiday in badagry
The leadership of the union made series of contacts this morning to verify the story. We contacted relevant stakeholders from ojo and badagry and can confidently confirm that the story is FAKE
For record sake,there is no public secondary school bearing the name Salvation Army Memorial High School in Ojo of Education District V
Further checks also revealed that there is no principal within the membership of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools in Ojo Zone bearing that name. The name of the school mentioned in the fake story does not exist in the directory of schools within ojo zone.
NUT Lagos State Wing wishes to admonish our teeming members to always contact the leadership of the union and other relevant stakeholders to always confirm the authenticity of stories before disseminating them.
The education sector is in a critical period when FAKE news could lead to unrest. We therefore condemn in totality purveyor of fake news and hope that they stop such dastardly act without further delay or face the wrath of the law.
We also implore our dear teachers to stop sharing the fake story. Sharing such helps the purveyors achieve their aims.
