FORMAL COMPLAINT AND REQUEST FOR INTERVENTION ON THE PROLONGED DELAY IN THE RELEASE OF NTI PGDE CERTIFICATES
Dear VDM,
We, the affected graduates of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, respectfully write to seek your urgent intervention regarding the prolonged delay in the release of our PGDE certificates.
Many of us enrolled in and successfully completed the NTI PGDE programme between 2017 and 2025, fulfilled all necessary academic and financial requirements, and have been waiting for our certificates for several years.
Unfortunately, despite completing our programmes, many of us are still without our certificates. This issue has affected graduates across several states in Nigeria, making it a widespread concern that we believe requires urgent intervention.
What is particularly concerning is that NTI continues to admit new students into the PGDE programme every year, while graduates from previous cohorts are still waiting for the certificates they earned after successfully completing their programmes.
The prolonged delay has had serious consequences for many affected graduates.
Some of us have been denied promotion at our places of employment because we could not present our PGDE certificates as required. Some have been unable to proceed with Master's degree programmes because the certificate is required for further academic progression.
Others have missed job and career opportunities because we were unable to tender our PGDE certificates during recruitment, documentation or verification processes.
This has placed many of us in a very difficult position. We have invested years of our time, effort and financial resources into obtaining this qualification, yet we are unable to fully benefit from it because the certificate has not been released.
We are not asking for special treatment. We are simply asking for the certificates we have earned.
The National Teachers’ Institute, Kaduna, is an established teacher-training institution, and its PGDE programme is affiliated with the University of Ilorin.
We therefore respectfully appeal to you, VDM, to use your platform and your voice to investigate this matter and call the relevant authorities to account.
We urgently need answers to the following:
1. Why are certificates of graduates from the 2017–2025 cohorts still outstanding after several years?
2. Why are new students still being admitted into the PGDE programme while previous graduates remain without their certificates?
3. Why has the delay affected graduates across several states in Nigeria?
4. What is being done by NTI and the relevant authorities to resolve the issue?
5. When exactly will the outstanding certificates be released to the affected graduates?
VDM, these certificates are more than pieces of paper. They are essential documents that determine our ability to secure jobs, receive promotions, pursue further education and progress in our careers.
We therefore sincerely appeal to you to lend your voice to this matter and help us seek justice and accountability.
We are willing to provide relevant documents and evidence, including admission documents, payment receipts and other information required to verify our claims.
We hope that your intervention will help bring this prolonged situation to an end and ensure that all outstanding NTI PGDE certificates are released to the affected graduates without further delay.
Thank you for your time, your concern for Nigerians and your anticipated intervention.
Yours faithfully,
Concerned/Affected NTI PGDE Graduates
