*PRINCIPLES OF LESSON PLAN !!!*
*WHEN A TEACHER SHOULD SUBMIT LESSON PLAN FOR ASSESSMENT:*
*1. BEFORE THE LESSON:*
*(MOST IMPORTANT)*
- *At Least 24 - 48 Hours Before Teaching:* Most schools require submission 1-2 days before the class. This gives your HOD / Supervisor time to vet, correct, and approve it.
- *Beginning of the Week:* Many schools operate a weekly system. You submit all lesson plans for the next week on *Friday or Monday morning* before 8am.
- *Before Entering The Classroom:* No teacher should teach without an approved lesson plan. Your lesson plan must be approved BEFORE you step into class, not after.
*2. DURING SCHOOL INSPECTION / SUPERVISION*
- *On Demand:* When an external supervisor, principal, or Ministry of Education inspector walks in, your lesson plan must be on your table ready for assessment.
- *During Lesson Observation:* For formal assessment, you submit to the assessor at the start of the lesson for them to follow your steps while you teach.
*3. BASED ON SCHOOL POLICY CALENDAR*
- *Beginning of Term:* Long-term scheme of work + sample lesson plan for first 2 weeks is submitted during resumption week.
- *End of Term:* For final assessment of your teaching file, you submit your complete lesson plan file.
- *Monthly / Bi-weekly Submission:* Some private schools collect teaching files every 2 weeks for continuous assessment.
*4. WHEN CHANGES OCCUR*
- *If You Review or Re-teach a Topic:* If the previous method failed and you are changing strategy, you must submit the revised plan before re-teaching.
- *For Special Lessons:* For practical, demonstration, or project-based lessons, submit earlier (3 days before) because materials need to be checked.
*5. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU SUBMIT LATE?*
- You will be marked as unprepared.
- Your lesson may be rated low even if you teach well, because planning is part of assessment.
- It shows lack of professionalism.
*BEST PRACTICE SUMMARY:*
> *Ideal Time: Submit on Friday for the following week, and always have the approved copy on your desk 30 minutes before your lesson starts.*
If you are a part-time or student-teacher on Teaching Practice (TP):
Submit *2-3 days before* your supervisor's visit date and keep 3 copies - one for you, one for assessor, one for cooperating teacher.
MOTE: A professional teacher will never enter a classroom unprepared or without an assessed lesson plan but the quacks. Such should not be spared in the 21st century teaching profession.
*COMMENDATION:* I congratulate and appreciate those with the fear of God that are diligent without supervision but unalloyed compliance. Thank you !
