NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PROPRIETORS OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS (NAPPS), NIGERIA
Dear Esteemed Members of NAPPS Nationwide,
RE: USE OF EXISTING SCHEME OF WORK
The National Unified Examination Committee of NAPPS wishes to brief members on the outcome of its extended meeting held yesterday, which was well attended.
After careful deliberations, the Committee observed that the newly released curriculum and proposed schemes of work are still undergoing detailed review by key stakeholders, including publishers and State Ministries of Education across the federation. This review is necessary to ensure proper alignment, especially regarding teacher readiness, availability of instructional materials, textbooks, and other learning resources required for effective implementation.
In this regard, NAPPS commends the Honourable Minister of Education and his team for their bold and forward-looking reforms, particularly the rationalisation of over 30 trade subjects into about six focused and market-relevant areas. This initiative, alongside other recent policy interventions by the current administration, reflects a clear commitment to improving quality, relevance, and efficiency in Nigeria’s education system.
However, given that consultations with NERDC and state curriculum departments are still ongoing, and to avoid confusion, uneven implementation, and disruption to teaching and learning, members are hereby advised to *continue with the existing NERDC- and NAPPS-approved scheme of work*. The current scheme remains familiar to teachers, well-supported by available textbooks, and suitable for uniform assessment nationwide.
Consequently, the *NAPPS Second Term Unified Examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session shall be based strictly on the extant NAPPS scheme of work*, in order to ensure fairness, adequate preparation, and consistency across schools.
NAPPS will continue to engage relevant authorities and stakeholders and will provide timely updates once a harmonised and fully supported new scheme of work is ready for implementation.
We appreciate your understanding, cooperation, and continued commitment to professionalism, unity, and quality education. We wish all members a productive and successful academic term.
*Yours faithfully,*
