How I Got My TRCN Certificate — My Experience
Congratulations on taking this bold step to become a licensed teacher.
This was my journey:
*1. Visit to TRCN Office:*
I went to the TRCN Office in Abeokuta to make enquiries.
*2. Payment for PQE:*
I paid for the TRCN Professional Qualifying Examination [PQE] — the CBT exam. I prepared and sat for the exam and passed.
*3. Registration as a Professional Teacher:*
After passing, I returned to the TRCN Office for full registration as a professional teacher. You will be asked to pay a registration fee — the amount depends on your qualification category: NCE, B.Ed / B.Sc.Ed / B.A.Ed / PGDE, M.Ed / M.Sc.Ed, and PhD.
*4. Collection of Certificate:*
About two months after registration, I went back and my TRCN Certificate was ready for collection.
*5. License:*
After the certificate, I also paid for the TRCN License. The license is renewable, while the certificate is for life.
*Important Note:*
Please note that *TRCN Certificate is different from TRCN License.*
- The *Certificate* shows you are a qualified, registered teacher.
- The *License* is what legally permits you to practice and it must be renewed every 3 years.
I have paid for my license but I am yet to go to the office to collect the card.
I encourage you to go and get yours. It gives you professional identity and recognition as a teacher in Nigeria.
