Be informed that the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) will commence nationwide compliance monitoring exercise on the implementation of the ministerial directive requiring teacher certification and Licensing as a condition for the accreditation of schools issued by the Honourable Minister of Education.
The exercise is scheduled to take place on Monday and Tuesday, the 28th and 29th of September.
The monitoring exercise will primarily involve
Collection and verification of data of teachers in public and private schools
Verification of professional status of teachers; TRCN registration, certification, and licensing
Assessment of the level of compliance with the Ministerial directive
Identification of gaps that require appropriate regulatory intervention and support.
The Council considers the exercise and important steps towards strengthening professional standards, ensuring that qualified and duly certified /licensed teachers are engaged in schools and ensuring the implementation of the federal government's policy on teacher professionalization.
In view of the above, educators are encouraged to give their full cooperation to the monitoring teams. And to make available their TRCN certificates and licenses for the exercise.
