Is it true that if you are in a school, you cannot write JAMB again unless you forfeit that admission?

Good evening. Please, I want to make a clarification and I beg for your indulgence.

Is it true that if you are currently admitted in a school, you cannot write JAMB again unless you forfeit that admission?
For instance, you are currently studying Physics and you want to write another JAMB to study Engineering, you have to drop Physics before you can register at all.

Thank you so much.

No, that is not true.

A student who is already admitted into a tertiary institution can still register for and write another JAMB UTME. JAMB does not prevent a currently enrolled student from registering for a new UTME.

For example:

A student studying Physics can write another UTME and apply for Engineering.

The student does not need to withdraw from Physics before registering for JAMB.

However, if the student is eventually offered admission to study Engineering and decides to accept it, then they would normally have to discontinue or formally withdraw from the previous programme from Jamb CAPS. A student cannot ordinarily hold and pursue two full-time degree admissions simultaneously.

The practical sequence is usually:

1. Register for and write JAMB.
2. Apply for the new course and institution.
3. Secure admission.
4. Decide whether to leave the current programme and accept the new admission through JAMB CAPS.

One thing to note is that candidates should ensure their details (name, date of birth, NIN, etc.) are consistent across both admissions records to avoid complications later.

So, the claim that you must first forfeit your current admission before you can even register for JAMB is incorrect. But u must reject the first admission from JAMB CAPS before you can accept the new admission

Thank you so so so much
If you really understand, pls kindly explain

Is it that when offered a new admission, there will be a pop up notification just like during the jamb registration for you to either discontinue the old one and start the new one or what exactly?
