JAMB ACTIVATES O’LEVEL RESULT VERIFICATION PORTAL FOR WAEC CANDIDATES

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has activated its O’Level result verification portal for candidates with West African Examinations Council (WAEC) results as part of the ongoing processes for the 2026 admission exercise.

The activation provides eligible candidates with an opportunity to proceed with the verification of their WAEC credentials ahead of the consideration and processing of admissions by their preferred institutions.

Applicants should also ensure that the personal information attached to their O’Level records is accurate and consistent with the details on their JAMB and identification records to avoid complications during verification.

Candidates whose results have already been successfully uploaded on the JAMB portal are advised to follow JAMB's latest instructions regarding verification and avoid unnecessary duplication of their records.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have announced a ₦4,000 fee for the verification of O’Level results during the tertiary admission process.

The fee, which is payable once, was disclosed by both examination bodies in a joint statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Candidates whose admissions are being processed through JAMB will be able to verify their WAEC results once via the JAMB platform. After successful verification, the result will be forwarded to the institution where the candidate is seeking admission.

The ₦4,000 verification fee is to be paid through the designated JAMB platform and not directly to the candidate’s chosen institution.

Once a candidate has completed the verification successfully, there will be no need to pay for another verification at the institution. JAMB will make the verified result available for screening, admission processing and other necessary administrative purposes.

The new arrangement is aimed at:
• Reducing the cost of repeated O’Level verification
• Making the admission process easier for candidates
• Eliminating the need for multiple verifications when applying to different institutions
• Safeguarding the authenticity and integrity of candidates’ academic records

Candidates can begin the verification process from home or any location with internet access. JAMB will handle the verification of the WAEC result and transmit the outcome to the relevant tertiary institution.

The verified result can subsequently be used for screening and admission-related procedures.

JAMB and WAEC have therefore advised admission seekers to make use of the JAMB-provided Verification Service to verify their WASSCE O’Level results once.
